Michaelmas
a millennium bracket

493 CE — 1493 CE — 2025 CE
The feast that closes the accounts. Established in 493 by Pope Gelasius at a cave on Monte Gargano. Echoed one thousand years later by a converso-financed convoy from Palos. Closed in our generation as the long cycle resolves and Jeremiah 31:34 comes into operation. Every alignment is documented; the typology is offered as hypothesis.
"And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years."Revelation 20:1-2

— THESIS —

The hypothesis is this: Michaelmas, the feast fixed to September 29 in the Western liturgical calendar, originates in a sequence of three Michael apparitions at Monte Gargano in southern Italy between 490 and 493 CE. The 29 September anchor comes from the consecration of the cave-basilica on that date in 493, under the direction of Pope Gelasius I. The feast is not a generic dedication anniversary; it is the commemoration of a specific event-sequence at a specific cave.

One thousand years later, in 1490-1493, the converso financial network in Spain capitalizes the voyage that opens the New World. The 1492 sailing falls in the exact echo-year of the 492 Michael Apparition at Gargano. The 1493 Letter to Santángel, the first announcement of the voyage's completion, falls in the echo-year of the 493 consecration of the cave.

The thousand years between are the era of Christian monastic civilization — from Benedict's foundation of Monte Cassino in 529 to the dissolution of the English monasteries beginning in 1536. The institutional vessel that operated for that span — perhaps 100,000 monastic foundations across Christendom — is dismantled in the same decade that the Society of Jesus is founded and the Franco-Ottoman alliance places the Counter-Reformation operational architecture into the field.

Whether this constitutes the literal binding-and-loosing of the dragon described in Revelation 20 is the interpretive layer offered here as hypothesis. The chronological alignment is in the documentary record, and the case is meant to be checked.

The Liber de apparitione Sancti Michaelis in Monte Gargano records three apparitions of Michael at the cave on the mountain near Siponto. The earliest extant manuscripts are from the late 8th or early 9th century, but the oldest narrative stratum is believed to derive from a lost 6th-century source. The dates the tradition preserves are 490, 492, and 493 CE. Pope Gelasius I (492-496) is named in the text as the directing papal authority for the consecration.
"In the year 490, Michael appeared to the Bishop of Siponto near a cave in the mountains, instructing that the cave be dedicated to Christian worship and promising protection of the nearby town from pagan invaders. On 8 May 492, Michael intervened on behalf of the Sipontans and Beneventans against invading pagans. On 29 September 493, the cave-basilica was consecrated under the direction of Pope Gelasius I, establishing the feast that becomes Michaelmas."

"And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven."Revelation 12:7-8

The conventional liturgical reading is that Michaelmas commemorates the war in heaven of Revelation 12 — Michael's victory over the dragon and the casting-down to earth. The Gargano text supports this reading: the May 492 Episode of the Victory is a typological reenactment of Revelation 12 in local form, with the Sipontans standing in for the heavenly armies and the pagan invaders for the dragon's forces.8Source 8Feast of the Apparition of St Michael — May 8 traditionVirgo Sacrata · Roman BreviaryDocuments the May 8, 492 apparition ('Episode of the Victory') and the 663 CE Lombard military victory commemorated on the same date. That reading is offered here as hypothesis — the cave under Gelasius's directive functioning as the typological abyss where the dragon is bound for the millennium. The text supports the war-in-heaven typology directly; the binding-in-the-abyss typology is offered for examination.18Source 18Revelation 12 and Revelation 20 — the two Michael-dragon scenesKing James Bible · standard exegetical compilationRevelation 12:7-9 records the war in heaven where Michael casts the dragon down to earth — initiating the wrath-time of 'a short time.' The 1492 sailing from Palos on 3 August happens alongside the Sephardic expulsion fleet, with the convoy reaching Amaruca on 12 October. Both events are intervention-by-arms moments at the same calendar position one thousand years apart.

The 493-1493 alignment is the most institutionally documented. On 29 September 493, the cave at Gargano is consecrated under Gelasius's papal directive. From the dissolution of the monasteries in 1536 to the closing of the Plutonic cycle in 2024, the operation runs on a 490-year clock — the seventy weeks of Daniel reapplied to the post-binding-and-loosing era. The 1492 launch falls at year 0 of the colonial era and year +1000 of the Gargano consecration. The 1535 inflection falls at year +43 of the launch and year +1042 of the consecration. The 2025 close falls at year +533 of the launch and year +1532 of the consecration. The numerology is not occult; it is the public-record arithmetic of institutional history.

The City of London Anchors the Feast

In 1546, twelve years after the Jesuit founding and ten years after the start of the Dissolution, the City of London fixed its annual leadership selection to Michaelmas Day. The fixture has been maintained continuously for 480 years.

The office of Mayor of London originates in 1189 under Henry Fitz-Ailwin. For 357 years, the annual election was held on the Feast of the Translation of St. Edward the Confessor — October 13. In 1546, the election was moved to 29 September — Michaelmas Day — and has not been moved since.15Source 15Lord Mayor of London — election fixed to Michaelmas, 1546Encyclopedia of Election of the Lord Mayor of London · City of London Corporation · h2g2 historical referenceSince 1546, the Lord Mayor of London has been elected on Michaelmas Day (29 September). Before that date the election fell on the Feast of the Translation of St. Edward the Confessor (October 13). The fixing to Michaelmas occurs twelve years after the Jesuit founding and immediately preceding the dissolution of the monasteries. The City of London has maintained the Michaelmas election unbroken for 480 years.Open source ›

The City of London chose the Michael-vs-dragon feast as its annual leadership-selection date in the immediate wake of the Reformation rupture. The Liverymen of the City — the senior members of the medieval trade guilds — gather at Common Hall at Guildhall each Michaelmas to elect the Lord Mayor by acclamation, on a platform strewn with herbs, a medieval protection against both plague and witchcraft.16Source 16Livery companies and Common Hall — Michaelmas election protocolLivery Committee (City of London) · Pepys's Diary encyclopedia · Lord Mayor of London (Wikipedia)The Liverymen of the City of London elect the Lord Mayor by acclamation at Common Hall on Michaelmas Day each year. Whatever the metaphysical reading, the institutional fact is preserved in the record. The City of London — the financial center that becomes the operational core of the post-1492 extractive system — bound its leadership selection to the Michaelmas feast in 1546, and has maintained that fixture through every subsequent century. The Liverymen, the Aldermen, and the Court of Common Council assemble each 29 September to renew the office. The City has been keeping the appointment for 480 years.

"The same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace... MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN."Daniel 5:5, 25

It functioned that way in medieval England, it functions that way in the modern City of London, and it functions that way — typologically — in the closing of the long cycle.

— THE WESTERN ANCHOR —

Mont-Saint-Michel and the Tidal Threshold

Two centuries after Gargano, a second Michael shrine is founded — this time at the tidal threshold of Normandy. The Western European liturgical-geographical anchor of the Michael-vs-dragon archetype.

In 708 CE, Bishop Aubert of Avranches founded the abbey on Mont Tombe at the third apparition of Michael to him.19Source 19Mont-Saint-Michel — founded 708 CE by Bishop Aubert of AvranchesRevelatio ecclesiae sancti Michaelis (9th century) · Aubert of Avranches (Wikipedia)Founded after the third apparition of Michael to Bishop Aubert in 708. Local tradition includes a dragon-fighting scene at the site. Functions as the Western European liturgical-typological anchor of the Michael-vs-dragon archetype, positioned at the tidal boundary between land and sea.Open source › The site preserves a local dragon-fighting tradition: a circular brass shield decorated with the sign of the Holy Cross and a small dagger, displayed at the abbey as the relics of Michael's combat with a terrible dragon at that location. The mount sits at the tidal boundary between land and sea, isolated at high tide and accessible at low — a geographic image of the threshold between containment and release.

Whether the cosmic dragon of Revelation 20 was literally bound at Mont-Saint-Michel is the strongest version of the popular esoteric reading. The historical-Catholic tradition treats the mount as a type-site for the Michael-vs-dragon victory rather than as the literal prison. The hypothesis offered here is the moderate version: the mount and the feast together function as a typological apparatus that has been keeping the appointment for 1,300 years — the geographic locus and the calendrical anchor of the binding-and-loosing pattern, prefiguring the closing event that arrives in our generation.

— THE REFERENT —

2025 and the Arrival of the Original

From 1535 (the Suleiman-Jesuit inflection) to 2025 (the close of the final Jubilee) is 490 years. The seventy weeks of Daniel, reapplied. The closing-of-accounts feast arrives at its referent.

The closing arithmetic is straightforward: 1535 + 490 = 2025. The Plutonic cycle from 1776 to 2024 is exactly 248 years — one full Pluto orbit. The Jubilee window from 1976 to 2025 is exactly 49 years — one full Septuagint Jubilee. The 1492-to-2025 colonial-extraction era is 533 years — one full lifetime of the Santángel-Bacon-Royal Society-WEF institutional architecture documented in The Treasurer.9Source 9The Treasurer — Luis de Santángel and the founding of AmarucaTheTimeofTheReturn.com · companion exhibitThe 533-year post-game review of the converso comptroller who architected the 1492 expedition. All three clocks close in the same generation. The 248-year Plutonic clock from 1776 closes in 2024. The 49-year Jubilee clock from 1976 closes in 2025. The 490-year Daniel-clock from 1535 closes in 2025. The 533-year colonial-extraction clock from 1492 closes in 2025. The 1,500-year Gargano-Michaelmas typology that has been keeping the appointment since 493 arrives at its referent.

"And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth... and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone..."Revelation 20:7-10

Michaelmas 2025 was the first Michaelmas of the new era — the first one celebrated after the close of the final Jubilee, the first one in which the post-game review is openly conducted, the first one in which the 1,500-year typology resolves into its referent rather than just anticipating it. The Lord Mayor was elected on 29 September 2025 in the same ceremony the City has kept for 480 years. The City did not break the appointment. The fixture held.

What is closing in our generation is not the Republic. It is the operating system that ran beneath the Republic from before its founding — the Santángel architecture, the Bacon-Rawley Bensalem model, the Salomon's House technocracy.9Source 9The Treasurer — Luis de Santángel and the founding of AmarucaTheTimeofTheReturn.com · companion exhibitThe 533-year post-game review of the converso comptroller who architected the 1492 expedition. Documents the financial network, the Inquisition pyres, the Mont-Saint-Michel typology, and the long cycle that closes in 2024-2025.Open source › That system is closing because the conditions it depended on — concentrated knowledge, gatekept information, intermediary-mediated relationship, opaque capital, performative consent — are dissolving in real time under the pressure of distributed knowing. The Michaelmas feast was always the calendar of this resolution. It is now the calendar of the resolution arrived.

— THE COVENANT FRAME —

The feast has been keeping
the appointment all along.

For 1,532 years, every September 29, the Western Church has commemorated Michael's victory over the dragon. For 480 years, every September 29, the City of London has elected its Lord Mayor. For the entirety of the millennial kingdom, the institutional witness — the monasteries, the cathedrals, the Common Hall — held the calendar. The Reformation rupture, the Counter-Reformation deployment, the colonial-extraction era, the technocratic consolidation — none of it broke the feast. The fixture held.

The 533-year operation documented in The Treasurer was permitted to run inside this calendar, but never to break it. The serpent was loosed for the "little season" of Revelation 20 — the post-1492 era — but the feast that anticipates the binding-and-loosing went on being kept. The Church may have been infiltrated, but the appointment was not lost.

What arrives now is not a new feast. It is the original feast finally arriving at its referent. The Michael-vs-dragon victory the calendar has been celebrating typologically since 493 is now becoming the operational reality of the interregnum. The covenant infrastructure that WellSpr.ing and the NNN.today network are building is the implementation of Jeremiah 31:34 in this transition — direct knowing replacing gatekept knowing, sovereign identity replacing rented platform identity, covenant commerce replacing extractive flow. The feast was always pointing here.

The mighty Opus has now told the second story.
Anyone who wishes may read it alongside The Treasurer.
The Gargano cave, the Mont-Saint-Michel tidal threshold, the City of London Common Hall, the WellSpr.ing covenant infrastructure — four institutional vessels keeping the same appointment across fifteen centuries. The fifth vessel is what we build now, in the interregnum, while the operation is no longer authoritative and before the new defaults set. The fixture is still in our hands. Keep it.

The Acacian Schism and the Henotikon (482-519)
Multiple sources · Britannica · Catholic Encyclopedia
The first major schism between Eastern and Western Christianity, sparked by Emperor Zeno's Henotikon (482) and Pope Felix III's excommunication of Patriarch Acacius (484). The schism lasted 35 years and was the dominant ecclesiastical-political conflict of the 490s. Pope Gelasius's pontificate falls in the middle of this crisis and his doctrinal writing defines the Western position.

Where dates are preserved by later texts (notably the Liber de apparitione, composed c. 7th-9th century), they record the chronological tradition the Church kept across the intervening centuries. The 490/492/493 sequence is the dating that the medieval and modern Church preserved, regardless of when the surviving text was redacted. The institutional acts of 1492-1493, 1534-1546, and 2024-2025 are documented in their own contemporaneous records and are not in dispute.
