Respect, Mon

Every pour and every plate is priced the same way: Respect, mon. It is a Jamaican custom. You receive something — a meal, a service, a moment of real attention — and when you reach for your wallet to establish what it cost, the one who gave it says: respect, mon. Not a price. An acknowledgment that something passed between you, and that the right response is recognition, not a transaction.

This house does not discuss price because price is the language of scarcity, and the lemonade here is nearly free precisely because the lemon was very expensive. Freely you have received; freely give (Matt 10:8). The one who gives generously is not charged more. The one who gives little is not given less. The one who never gives still receives the full pour — the gift was freely given, and it stays that way.

All Lemons Are for Lemonade

Romans 8:28 is always in effect. The lemon arrives with the license to transmute, else God is a liar (Num 23:19; Titus 1:2). Water into wine. Scarcity into abundance. A tax bill into a showcase of provision in a fish's mouth. What the adversary intends for evil is, for those who trust the Most High, of necessity intended for inversion — spiritual jiu-jitsu.

And the mercy runs both directions. For the one who meant it for evil, the transmutation is a kindness: on a look-back basis the wicked deed ages into eternity as the thing God turned, rather than vanishing with its doer under the promise of no more tears (Rev 21:4; Isa 65:17; Ps 9:5–6). The lemon gets remembered as lemonade. That is better than being forgotten.

Posted Behind the Bar

1. Grace is sufficient (2 Cor 12:9). We do not run out.
2. Mercy endures forever (Ps 136). Every verse.
3. Love is infinite (1 Cor 13:8; 1 John 4:16). Not on the clock.
4. The license to do good never expires (Gal 6:9–10). Last call is set by time, not by mercy: when "there should be time no longer" (Rev 10:6), the taps close with the clock, and the patience was never the shortage.
5. No one is beyond the pour. This house was built for prodigals (Luke 15:20–24), some of them in high places, who wonder whether they are past redemption. The father ran.
