The Housecleaning of Earth

A ledger of measured decline, the light let through, and the commission to occupy the swept rooms.

Occupy till I come.
Luke 19:13 · KJVSPINE
THE CLAIM, FENCED AT THE DOOR

A set of independently measured human behaviours has moved downward together across roughly the same window — homicide, drinking, smoking, adolescent substance use, roadway litter — while the sunlight reaching the ground has measurably increased and the sky's protective canopy is measurably repairing.

The author's conviction is that the accuser's hierarchy has been judged and free will restored, and that this ledger is the footprint of that removal. That conviction is carried at CONVICTION and nowhere else in this document.

Every measured line below is printed with its ordinary driver named in the same card. A full counter-column of lines that moved the wrong way is given its own movement rather than a footnote. Three claims the author tested and dropped are named in Movement VIII. An exhibit that prints only the flattering half of a ledger is not a ledger; it is an advertisement.

MOVEMENT I

The Ledger of Measured Decline

Six lines, six instruments, one direction — each with its ordinary driver welded on.

The observation that begins this exhibit was not a statistic. It was a windshield. People began reporting, independently and without coordination, that there were fewer insects on the glass, fewer bites on the porch, fewer of the small frictions that summer used to impose. The instinct was to dismiss it as nostalgia. The instrumentation says otherwise, and once one looked, the windshield was not alone.

THE MEASURED LINES
Each row: what moved, by how much, and what the ordinary explanation is.
Homicide and violent crimeSPINE[1]
US homicide fell sharply across 2023, 2024 and 2025 — among the steepest multi-year declines in the modern record, with numerous cities posting multi-decade lows.
ORDINARY DRIVER · Post-pandemic normalization from the 2020–21 spike; changes in clearance rates, policing deployment, and community-violence intervention funding. The decline returns the line toward, and in places below, its pre-2020 trend.
Alcohol consumptionSPINE[2][3]
Gallup's 2025 reading found the lowest reported drinking rate in roughly ninety years of its series, with per-capita consumption declining and the steepest fall among adults under 35.
ORDINARY DRIVER · A documented generational cohort effect running since about 2015 — the same cohort that drinks less also smokes less and delays licensure; plus GLP-1 uptake (see below) and post-pandemic shifts in social drinking occasions.
Adolescent substance useSPINE[4]
Monitoring the Future has recorded teen drinking, smoking, and vaping at or near record lows across successive annual surveys.
ORDINARY DRIVER · Decades of tobacco control; smartphone displacement of unsupervised in-person socializing — the same mechanism implicated in adolescent mental-health decline. The gain and the harm may share a cause.
Roadway litterSPINE[5]
Keep America Beautiful's national litter study found roughly a 54% decline in roadway litter since 2009 — on the order of 2,000 fewer pieces per mile.
ORDINARY DRIVER · Beverage-container lightweighting and packaging change; sustained municipal and volunteer cleanup programs; reduced smoking (cigarette butts are the largest single litter item by count).
Cross-appetite pharmacologySPINE[6][7]
GLP-1 receptor agonists reduce not only food intake but alcohol craving and consumption — demonstrated in randomized trial, with converging observational signals for nicotine and gambling. One molecular class, several appetites.
ORDINARY DRIVER · Direct action on shared mesolimbic reward circuitry. This is pharmacology, not resolve — and it is dispensed by prescription to those who can obtain and afford it.
Nuisance insect abundance (regional)SCAFFOLD
The best-instrumented US nuisance-mosquito network reported 2026 counts running near 40% of normal, against a five-year high the previous season, with spring Aedes largely absent for a second consecutive year.
ORDINARY DRIVER · Drought. A dry May and June suppressed hatching, and against a five-year baseline weighted toward the 2021–23 dry years the same counts read near or above average. Floodwater mosquitoes track rainfall almost mechanically. Elsewhere — the Gulf South, California, Florida — vector abundance is projected up, not down.
MOVEMENT II

The Light Let Through

Malachi 4:2, and the instrument record of a brightening sky.

But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
Malachi 4:2 · KJVSPINE

The word rendered wings is kanaph — wings, edges, extremities, and in solar figure, rays. The verse promises healing delivered by radiation from a rising light, to a discriminated recipient. The verse immediately preceding it is the burning day of the tannur, the oven, treated at length in the companion exhibit. One sun; two receptions. That structure is the text's own, not an imposition on it.

Surface solar radiation is not constant, and this is not a contested claim. The instrument record — surface pyranometers aggregated in the Global Energy Balance Archive and the Baseline Surface Radiation Network, with the Potsdam observatory running continuously since 1937 — shows a widespread decline from the 1950s to the 1980s, known as global dimming, followed by a recovery from the late 1980s onward, known as global brightening. The reversal is corroborated independently by sunshine-duration records, diurnal temperature range, and pan evaporation, which is what elevates it above a single instrument's drift.

THE BRIGHTENING · DATED
Surface irradiance, and the two accelerations
1950s–1980s · the dimmingSPINE[8][9][11]
Widespread decline in solar radiation reaching land surfaces across the Northern Hemisphere station network.
ORDINARY DRIVER · Rising sulfate and black-carbon aerosol loading from industrial combustion — direct scattering plus cloud-albedo enhancement.
Late 1980s · the reversalSPINE[9][10]
Dimming does not persist into the 1990s; a widespread brightening begins. Measured increase on the order of 0.10% per year over 1983–2001; clear-sky irradiance rises significantly where aerosol fell by up to 60%.
ORDINARY DRIVER · Air-pollution controls in developed economies, plus the industrial collapse of the former Eastern bloc. Combined SO₂ and black-carbon emissions peaked in 1988–89 and the radiation trend mirrors them.
1987 onward · the canopy repairsSPINE[12]
The Antarctic ozone hole is on a documented recovery trajectory attributable to the Montreal Protocol, with closure projected around mid-century.
ORDINARY DRIVER · International treaty phasing out chlorofluorocarbons. The most successful environmental agreement in history, and it worked because compliance was cheap.
January 2020 · the stepSPINE[13][14][15]
IMO2020 cut shipping sulfur emissions over the open ocean by roughly 80% overnight. Estimated forcing ranges from +0.074 to +0.2 W m⁻²; one analysis names it an inadvertent geoengineering termination shock capable of doubling the 2020s warming rate relative to the rate since 1980.
ORDINARY DRIVER · A public-health regulation, adopted to prevent an estimated 400,000 premature deaths a year from shipping particulates. Nobody intended a radiative step. Everybody got one.
MOVEMENT III

The Counter-Column

What moved the wrong way, printed at the same size as what moved the right way.

A thesis of cleansing that publishes only the falling lines is not evidence; it is selection. The following moved against the ledger across the same window, and several of them moved hard. They are given a movement rather than a footnote because a house being cleaned has dirt in it by definition — and because the reader who finds these omitted will rightly discount everything above.

THE LINES THAT ROSE
Same window. Opposite direction.
Antidepressant dispensingSPINE[16]
Monthly dispensing to Americans aged 12–25 rose 66.3% between January 2016 and December 2022, and the rate of increase was 63.5% faster after March 2020. Among females aged 12–17 the post-2020 acceleration was about 130%; among females 18–25, about 57%.
ORDINARY DRIVER · Documented deterioration in adolescent mental health, plus reduced stigma and expanded prescriber access. Note the one seam: prescribing to adolescent and young-adult males did not rise and in places fell — a sex-divergence the literature has not resolved.
Cannabis potencySPINE[20]
Mean THC concentration in commercial flower has risen from roughly 4% in the early 1990s to 15–25% and above, with concentrates far higher, while CBD content has fallen. Cannabis-induced psychosis presentations and cannabinoid hyperemesis have risen alongside.
ORDINARY DRIVER · Legal-market selection pressure toward potency, and cultivar breeding for THC yield. The product bearing the old name is not the old product.
Sports wageringSPINE[21]
Legal sports-betting handle has expanded enormously since the 2018 Murphy v. NCAA ruling, with problem-gambling helpline volumes rising in step across newly legalized states.
ORDINARY DRIVER · A Supreme Court decision plus aggressive state licensure. An appetite that was suppressed by law was released by law, and moved onto the phone.
Overdose mortalitySCAFFOLD[22]
Drug overdose deaths have fallen substantially from their 2022–23 peak — a genuine and large improvement. The baseline they are falling from is nonetheless historically catastrophic.
ORDINARY DRIVER · Naloxone distribution, fentanyl supply changes, and a grimly depleted susceptible population. This line belongs in both columns and is placed here so the ledger cannot be accused of hiding it.
MOVEMENT IV

The Conscience Ahead of the Conduct

Where the instruments show wanting before they show doing.

The author's stated expectation is that the instinct to inquire will lag the restoration of the freedom to inquire. The data show something adjacent and testable: in at least two domains, stated desire has moved well ahead of measured behaviour.

ATTITUDE, NOT YET CONDUCT
Pornography — the turn in what is wantedSPINE[17]
In 2021, fewer than half of American men aged 18–24 supported making online pornography harder to access. By 2025, nearly two-thirds did — and young men are now more supportive of limits than middle-aged men, with the gender gap on the question roughly halved.
ORDINARY DRIVER · Rising awareness of compulsive-use harms; age-verification legislation shifting the public conversation. Note carefully: this is a conscience signal, not a consumption signal. No credible series shows aggregate consumption falling, and age-verification laws appear to displace traffic toward unregulated sites rather than end it.
Spiritual inquiry — the plateau and the turnSCAFFOLD[18]
The decades-long decline in Christian affiliation has leveled rather than continued; the 'spiritual but not religious' share has grown; Bible sales rose notably in 2024; young men returning to services is the demographic reversal drawing attention.
ORDINARY DRIVER · A plateau is not a revival, and affiliation is a poor instrument for inquiry. Carried at SCAFFOLD because the shape — inquiry rising while institutional affiliation stays flat — is exactly what this exhibit's own lag thesis predicts, which means the author is at risk of finding what he expects. Verify each figure before citing.
Multigenerational householdsSCAFFOLD[19]
The share of Americans living in multigenerational households has roughly quadrupled since 1971, and young adults living with parents sits near postwar highs.
ORDINARY DRIVER · Housing unaffordability and delayed family formation — the ordinary reading, and the correct one on the causal question. Both clauses are true at once: the same datum registers as economic distress and as the reassembly of the extended household, and which one it becomes depends on what the household does with the years.
MOVEMENT V

The Lag of the Institutions

People turn faster than the structures they work inside.

The clearest structural observation available from this ledger is that the measured improvements are in behaviour — what individuals drink, discard, ingest, and do to one another — and not in institutions. Housing supply, licensure regimes, bureaucratic process, and the incentive architecture of the platforms have not turned at all. The lag is not a puzzle. It is how reform propagates: a person can change on a Tuesday, and an institution changes when its incumbents retire.

This has a practical consequence for anyone reading the ledger as a season rather than a coincidence. If the people are ahead of the structures, then the useful work is not waiting for the structures. It is occupying the cleared ground directly — which is what the last movement is for.

MOVEMENT VI

The Swept House

Why deletion is not the assignment.

When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
Matthew 12:43–45 · KJVSPINE

This is the exhibit's hinge, and it is the reason the counter-column in Movement III is not an embarrassment but a confirmation of the text's own warning. The house in the parable is not lost because it was dirty. It is lost because it was swept and left empty. The vacancy is the vulnerability. An appetite evicted and not replaced does not stay evicted; it returns with company.

Read the counter-column against that grammar. Drinking fell and wagering rose. Smoking fell and potency rose. These are not refutations of a cleansing; they are the parable's mechanism, running on schedule, in a population that swept without occupying. Whatever one concludes about the cause of the sweeping, the assignment that follows it is not in dispute and is not delegable.

MOVEMENT VII

The Twelve Commissions

Displace, don't merely delete. Select a card to see the occupying act.

Each card names a vacancy — a room recently swept, or easily swept — and the act that occupies it. The pairing is deliberate: a habit removed without a substitute in the same slot is the empty house of Movement VI. These are not a program and confer no merit. They are twelve things a person can begin before the end of the week.

MOVEMENT VIII

What This Exhibit Refused

Three claims the author tested and dropped.

The house standard is that a witness wrong where checkable earns scrutiny, not a verdict of intent. The same standard applied inward requires printing what was examined and discarded. Three claims were considered for this exhibit and are excluded.

THE REFUSALS
Schumann resonance anomaliesEXCLUDED[23]
Widely circulated claims of unprecedented spikes in Earth's electromagnetic 'heartbeat' — 'Power 11', 'energy at 65%', bright spectrogram bands read as ascension signal.
ORDINARY DRIVER · Excluded. The resonance is excited by global lightning (~50 discharges/second) in the Earth–ionosphere cavity; amplitude varies diurnally and seasonally by design, and bright bands indicate thunderstorm and ionospheric conditions. The circulating figures are invented metrics from consumer applications; no official global value exists, and the source spectrograms come from a single station with known instrument artifacts. Carrying this would hand a hostile reader the card that discredits the rest.
Positron or antimatter 'tidying'EXCLUDED[24]
The proposal that a measurable energetic agent could be effecting a physical cleansing.
ORDINARY DRIVER · Excluded. Positron flux is measured continuously by AMS-02 and PAMELA and shows no anomaly; matter–antimatter annihilation at any relevant scale would produce a gamma-ray signature visible to every observatory on Earth. There is no quiet form of it.
A post-COVID fall in SSRI useEXCLUDED[16]
The author's working belief, entering this build, that antidepressant consumption had dropped materially since the pandemic.
ORDINARY DRIVER · Excluded — and reversed. The all-payer prescription record shows the opposite: dispensing to Americans aged 12–25 rose 66.3% across 2016–2022, accelerating 63.5% after March 2020. The claim is printed here rather than quietly dropped because a ledger that only records its confirmations is not a ledger. The single seam consistent with the author's expectation — flat-to-falling prescribing among young males — is noted in Movement III and is not enough to carry the claim.
MOVEMENT IX

Author's Conviction — The Adversary Removed

Stated plainly, fenced completely, and load-bearing on nothing above.

AUTHOR'S CONVICTION

The author holds that the demonic hierarchy — powers, principalities, thrones and dominions — has been judged and uprooted; that the coercive pressure formerly exerted on the human will has been lifted; and that the ledger in Movements I–IV is the visible footprint of that removal working outward through a population newly able to choose. He holds further that the institutions lag because structures change at the speed of their incumbents, not their consciences.

No instrument reads this. Every measured line in this exhibit has a sufficient ordinary explanation, printed beside it. The convergence of six unrelated mechanisms in one window is the only anomaly on offer, and convergence is not causation. This conviction is therefore stated once, tiered, and permitted to carry no weight whatever in the ledger above. It is offered as the author's reading, not as the exhibit's finding — and the ledger stands or falls on its sources regardless of what the reader concludes about the reading.

Occupy till I come.
Luke 19:13 · KJVSPINE

The directive is not a promise of rescue from an earth given up as lost. It is a trading order issued to servants left in charge of a property whose owner intends to return to it. The exhibit's ledger says the property is in better condition than the reader has been told. The parable says that fact places him under more obligation, not less. The bench is cleared. Nothing in the record recommends being found idle when the heavens rend.
