The 45 Days from Baptism to Cana
WATER FOR WINE
"And the Word was made flesh, and tabernacled among us." — John 1:14, ἐσκήνωσεν
At the Door
The Shape: 40, then 5
The gospels do not date the baptism. This exhibit reads it as a mikveh at the Jordan on Rosh Chodesh Elul, the first day of the forty days of return, and then lets the texts count: forty days in the wilderness that land on the Day of Atonement, and John's own day-ledger that carries five more days to a wedding where purification water becomes wine. The Server used to hold Passover for the baptism and Av 15 for the wedding. He has moved. The moving is the exhibit.
Fence, once. Elul 1 for the baptism is CONVICTION; no verse dates it. The 40-day landing on Yom Kippur is also the Moses count of Jewish tradition (Rashi on Exod 33:11; Pirkei de-Rabbi Eliezer 46), SCAFFOLD. Under the rabbinic fixed calendar Elul is always 29 days, so that tradition has to start the count on Av 30 to reach 40; under this house's full-moon reckoning the count is taken from the sky, and in both years that matter here — 24 CE and 2026 — Elul runs 30 days and Elul 1 to Tishrei 10 is exactly forty. The five days from Yom Kippur to Cana are John's ledger read against the synoptic forty; the harmony is SCAFFOLD, because John never mentions the wilderness and the synoptics never mention Cana. Consistent-with, never proven-by.
The Reckoning
Month Begins the Day After the Full Moon
This corpus holds, and litigates in The Case for 7 BCE → 27 CE, that the month turns on the day after the full moon, so that the 15th falls at the dark of the moon: the Exodus night, the tents on Hermon, and the Passion all at a dark moon. Every date below is given first on that reckoning and then on the rabbinic calendar, so the reader can see which finds survive both.

From the Jordan to the Wedding
ELUL 124 CE: Sept 7 · 2026: Aug 28 (rabbinic Aug 14)
The mikveh. John 1:29 is this morning, not a later return: "John seeth Jesus coming unto him" — the approach to the water. Matthew shows the same pre-baptism recognition: "I have need to be baptized of thee" (3:14). John had said "I knew him not" (, ) — no record they shared a childhood — and the promised sign, the descending dove, had not yet been given; the recognition at the riverbank is discernment by the Spirit, the Elijah-spirit in him (Luke 1:17), the same that leapt in the womb (). Then the baptism itself, which John's gospel never narrates, and the testimony of John 1:32–34 spoken on its far side: "I saw the Spirit descending." He goes down "about thirty" from a 7 BCE birth and comes up under an open heaven, on the first day of Teshuvah, having nothing to repent of, "to fulfil all righteousness" (Matt 3:15).
CONVICTION · · · · ·
DAYS 1–40Elul into Tishrei
"Immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness." Read here not as forty days circling one ravine but as a pilgrimage north up the Jordan valley — an itinerant nobody on the ordinary roads, not yet famous, not bushwhacking: the ford past Phasaelis and Archelais, Coreae, up to Scythopolis — with Aenon near Salim, where John himself soon relocates (; Eusebius puts Aenon eight miles south of Scythopolis), sitting on that same road — then Bethsaida and the upper Jordan to Banias at Hermon's foot. ~200 km of road in forty days. Luke says he was "forty days tempted" () and that the devil "ended all the temptation" () — the torment ran the whole way; the three we are shown are exemplars, the 1 John 2:16 triad (flesh, eyes, pride — Eve's triad at the tree, Gen 3:6), of what may have been forty or four hundred. And the angels were not his wingmen on the road: "then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered" () — they came after. The number is Moses on the mountain and Elijah to Horeb (Exod 34:28; 1 Kgs 19:8), both forty-day fasts ending at a meeting with God.
SPINE · · · ·
DAY 31 · TISHREI 1Yom Teruah · 24 CE: Oct 7 · 2026: Sept 27
Trumpets at the foot of the mountain. Thirty days of wilderness road behind him, he reaches Banias on the day the shofar sounds, and the ascent begins — the mountain that "rejoices in thy name" () rising 2,400 m above the springs. The last nine days of the fast are the climb.
CONVICTION ·
DAY 40 · TISHREI 10Yom Kippur · THE SUMMIT · 24 CE: Oct 16 · 2026: Oct 6
The forty end on the summit, and Matthew's text carries the shape plainly: the mountain is the last temptation — "Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain" (), the tempter as tour guide on the final ascent — then "Get thee hence, Satan" (), "then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered" (). The angels minister at the top of Hermon, to a man forty days fasted, on the one day Israel is commanded to afflict its souls () — the nation's fast day is his fortieth. An escalating trial building to Tishrei 10, and at its peak the Lord's anointed is depleted of himself: it is in our nothingness that we can do all things. The climb after a forty-day fast is heroic work at the edge of human capability — but the text says he ate nothing and hungered (, ), never that he thirsted: a water-fast, not a dry one, on a riverine route with springs the whole way — unlike Moses' bread-and-water abstention (), which was supernatural. Theoretically repeatable, at the cost of heroic discipline. WINK Two years on, at Sukkot, he is transfigured on a high mountain in this same massif — and the two who appear beside him, Moses and Elijah (), are the only other forty-day fasters in the record, meeting him on the mountain where his own forty ended.
SCAFFOLD · · · · · · Heb 9:11–12
TISHREI 11–12Days 41–42 · John 1:35 · John 1:43
The seam in John's ledger sits at John 1:35, and John marks it: τῇ ἐπαύριον πάλιν — "the next day, again" — a resumption. John the Baptist has moved his work north toward Aenon (); Jesus comes down from the mountain onto the same road, and John, "looking upon Jesus as he walked," gives the second, shorter cry: "Behold the Lamb of God" (John 1:36). Andrew and the other leave John and abide with him that day, the tenth hour. "The day following" () — into Galilee: Philip of Bethsaida (), then Nathanael, of Cana (), under the fig tree, who is told he shall see "the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man" () — Jacob's ladder, said by the man on whom the angels have just begun to descend, on the road to Cana.
SCAFFOLD · · · ·
TISHREI 15Sukkot I · 24 CE: Oct 21, dark moon · 2026: Oct 11, dark moon
"And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee." Counted as the third day of the road into Galilee taken up at John 1:43 (Tishrei 12), the arrival is Tishrei 15 — the first day of Sukkot, the wine-harvest festival, the feast of the water-drawing. Six stone jars "after the manner of the purifying of the Jews" — mikveh water, the same element he went down into forty-five days earlier — filled to the brim and drawn out as the good wine. He who "tabernacled" among us serves new wine at Tabernacles, from a new vessel, at the end of forty days of return.
SCAFFOLD · · · · John 1:14
Where the ledger is soft. The post-wilderness chain runs John 1:35 = Tishrei 11 and John 1:43 = Tishrei 12; "the third day" of John 2:1 is counted here as the third day of the journey begun after John 1:43 (Tishrei 13, 14, 15 → Tishrei 15, Sukkot I). Counted inclusively from 1:43 itself it lands on Tishrei 14 — a wedding opening on Sukkot's eve, pouring its good wine into the feast; either count keeps the sign at Tabernacles. The older reading of John 1:19–2:1 as a seven-day new-creation week is compatible with either. The wedding's exact day is not proven; the feast is what the elements (harvest wine, purification water, "tabernacled") are pointing at.

Pencil check. Al-Maghtas → Banias by the valley road is ~230 km; the summit ~2,400 m of ascent from Banias; Hermon's foot → Cana ~50 km. Total ~280 km over 45 days: ~6 km a day, a fasting man's pace, on road the whole way. No Jerusalem leg: Mark keeps him "there in the wilderness forty days," and the pinnacle is the tempter's transport, not an itinerary stop. The summit falls on day 40, not day 31: Matthew's own order makes the high mountain the last temptation, and the devil departs and the angels arrive there (Matt 4:8–11). Interior day-numbers between the fixed points (1, 31, 40, 41, 45) are estimates.
The Ministry Ledger · 24–27 CE, revised
Two Sukkots and Three Passovers
Moving the baptism from Nisan to Elul of 24 CE changes the shape of the whole ministry, and the change is an improvement: the ministry now contains exactly the three Passovers John names (2:13, 6:4, 11:55), with no need to read the unnamed feast of 5:1 as a fourth, and both Sukkots fall where the text's own furniture says they do.

SCAFFOLD
What the 7 BCE → 27 CE exhibit needs changed. Its hero line reads "Baptized April 24 CE"; under this reading it becomes "Baptized Elul, autumn 24 CE." Its Tiberius row (co-regency epoch "and one year beyond it, for an April 24 baptism") loosens slightly — Luke 3:1 dates John's preaching, not the day Jesus came, and an autumn baptism sits later in whatever regnal year is chosen. The "about thirty" row moves from 30 to 30½; still Luke's word. Its "acceptable year, Nazareth, spring 25" sharpens to Nisan 1, Apr 2, 25 CE. The relative chronology is reconciled thus: Cana (John 2:1–11) → winter at Capernaum (2:12; Luke 4:14–15, 23) → Nazareth on Nisan 1 (Luke 4:16–30) → Passover in Jerusalem (John 2:13) → Judea and Samaria (John 3–4) → Galilee again (John 4:45; Luke 4:31). John 4:45 is the return, and is cited here only as the return. Note once: the Jubilee's own trumpet is Tishrei 10 (Lev 25:9), which on this ledger is day 40 — the day he came up out of the wilderness anointed (Luke 4:18); Nazareth on Nisan 1 is then the year's public reading, not its trumpet. Luke 4:44 in the earliest witnesses reads "the synagogues of Judea," which is the shape John 3 gives. The transfiguration at Sukkot is SCAFFOLD on Peter's tents and the Hermon geography, not on a date in the text. Whether the 5:1 feast is Sukkot 25 or Purim 26 does not affect the count.
The road, resolved — and its cost, named once. With John 1:29 read as the baptism-day approach (with Matt 3:14), there is no return to the ford and the road is one line: Al-Maghtas → north up the valley → Hermon → down to Cana, ~50 km from Hermon's foot, easily John's three days. What the reading spends: the three τῇ ἐπαύριον of John 1:29, John 1:35, and John 1:43 most naturally chain day-on-day, so the forty must sit unnarrated between John 1:34 and John 1:35, with John 1:35's πάλιν as the resumption marker and John's own relocation toward Aenon (John 3:23) carrying him onto the northern road. And John 1:32–34's past-tense "I saw the Spirit descending" must be spoken later on the baptism day itself, the baptism falling silently mid-scene — which is John's habit; he never narrates it at all. SCAFFOLD, strain declared.
The Long Clock · This House's Frame
The Same Shape Over the Ages
The pattern the Server reads over history, at CONVICTION and cross-referenced to the companion exhibits, is the same 40-then-5: a long season of uncovered testing, a forty of purification, an anointing at trumpets, and five more years to the tabernacling.
And the wilderness translates with its furniture. In the forty days the temptation ran continuously while the angels held back until the end; so, the Server holds, in the 40 Jubilees and the 40 years: the angelic realm laid low, working the background, entertained unawares (Heb 13:2) — no glow, no declaration, discerned by spirit or not at all, as John discerned the one walking toward him. The ministry becomes open only when the forty is done. He reports encounters of his own in that unawares mode; they are his to report. CONVICTION, with one text-fence: Mark's imperfect διηκόνουν (Mark 1:13) can be read as angels ministering throughout; Matthew's "then... angels came" (4:11) is the after-reading this frame rests on.

CONVICTION
Bookends · 5 + 40 and 40 + 5
1981 + 40 = 2021, + 5 = 2026. This clock carries the full gospel shape: forty in the desert, an anointing at trumpets, five to the feast. Its anchor is the Dome count, which the 1981 exhibit fences as architecture-year, not event-year. Its ±1 slack (691 vs 692) is load-bearing inside the window: 2026 or 2027.
Named once. "Orchestrated" is CONVICTION with no operator named, matching the End-Game exhibit's staged-but-not-attributed discipline. The Rogers Commission found an O-ring failure in cold weather and a management culture that overrode engineers; the crew cabin and the remains of the seven were recovered from the seabed in March 1986 and buried. Those findings are SPINE and are not displaced by anything here; the exhibit carries the trauma-ritual reading of the aftermath, not a survival claim.
★ The Reprise ★
The Final 45 · 1981 → 2026
Daniel's last two numbers are 45 apart: gives 1,290; blesses the one who "waiteth, and cometh" to 1,335. On this house's count (1981 — The Year the Run Was Tooled; The Long Battle for Moriah) the 1,290 lands at 1981 and the 1,335 at 2026 — a tail of 45 years. The itinerary above is 45 days, Elul 1 to Tishrei 15, ending at a wedding. The Server holds that 2026 is the reprise: the back end of the final 45 since 1981, arriving at Tabernacles rightly divided to the dark moon — Oct 11, 2026.
The endpoints rhyme without forcing: day 1 is a mikveh and year 1 (1981) opens the run; day 45 is the wedding and year 45 (2026) is the feast; Daniel's blessing is on the one who arrives — the wedding-guest verb. The interior is not pressed: the itinerary's day 40 is Yom Kippur, while the years' 40th (2021) was an anointing at Yom Teruah; the exhibit lets that stand unharmonized. And the season wears the two eclipses like gateposts: the total solar of Aug 12 at mid-Av's dark, the partial lunar of Aug 28 on Elul's opening full moon.
Graded once. The 45-day / 45-year correspondence is CONVICTION resting on the companion exhibits' 691/692 anchor (their ±1 slack applies here too: 2026 or 2027). The arithmetic 1,335 − 1,290 = 45 is SPINE; that the gospel's own 45 is its miniature is the Server's held reading, offered as held.

The Langtang Lirung glacier collapses with a section of the mountain beside it, a ~7,000-foot drop into the Lhende Khola; the wave runs the first 22 km at ~120 mph; the Trishuli rises 9 m in 30 minutes; Gyirong Port on the China–Nepal border is erased. As of Aug 29: at least 675 dead, 2,498 missing in Nepal, 589 of them foreign nationals, 90 of them Americans. Traumatic scenes visible around the world.
Fence, once, and it holds the whole card. The Server's draft called the flood "rivers of living water, washing away filth." The exhibit cannot carry that line. Asked to read a disaster in his own day — eighteen dead under the tower of Siloam — Jesus refused the reading that the dead were worse sinners than the living, and kept only the wake-up call: "except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish" (Luke 13:1–5). That is the Elul reading of a flood: not their filth, your return. Isaiah 59:19, this house's counter-measure clause, puts the flood on the enemy's side of the verse and the Spirit's standard on the other; the water at Cana was drawn, not loosed. The 2,498 missing are lemons in someone's hand tonight. The lemonade is not ours to declare for them; the trumpet is.
ELUL 1Fri Aug 28, 2026 · this house's reckoning
The month turns eclipsed: the opening full moon of Aug 28 was itself in partial eclipse (per this house's Full-Moon Year 2026 almanac) — and the sign was not given to Jerusalem. Greatest eclipse fell 04:13 UT, past 7 a.m. in Jerusalem with the moon already set; it was the Americas that watched the shadowed moon rise right after sunset on their Aug 27 evening. A blood-tinged moon opening Teshuvah over the diaspora and invisible from the land. The Server's held reading: the diaspora has not ended; the modern Aliyah jumped the gun; the blessing of is on the one who waiteth — the return has an appointed time, and the waiting is the obedience. Sixteen days earlier the total solar eclipse of Aug 12 fell at the new moon of mid-Av — the dark mid-month this calendar predicts — and, per The Long Battle for Moriah, on the 45th anniversary of the IBM PC to the day. The Nepal wave had run two days earlier, at the end of Av. The 2026 forty runs Aug 28 → Oct 6, and the five to a dark-moon Sukkot on Oct 11.

Marrow
Red cells are born in the bone marrow, ~2.4 million per second, from a stem cell that could have become anything.

Emptying
Before release, the red cell ejects its nucleus. It carries no blueprint of its own; it exists only to carry.
Kenosis at the cellular level: "made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant" (Phil 2:7). WINK
Heme
Oxygen is held by an iron atom at the center of a porphyrin ring. Chlorophyll is the same ring around magnesium.
The plant's green blood and the animal's red blood share one frame. Sunlight → leaf → grape → "the blood of grapes" (Gen 49:11; Deut 32:14) → the cup at Cana. Iron to gold is not the exchange posted in Isaiah 60:17; iron to silver is. WINK
Ascending / descending
Dark venous blood rises to the lungs, receives breath, and returns bright through the heart; it descends to the body and gives the breath away. Two circuits, one pump, never resting.
"The angels of God ascending and descending" (Gen 28:12; John 1:51) — said to Nathanael of Cana the day before the water became wine. Breath is ruach. SCAFFOLD
120 days
A red cell lives about 120 days, then is broken in the spleen and liver.
"His days shall be an hundred and twenty years" (Gen 6:3) — the same number the body sets on its own blood. WINK
The lemon
Spent heme is not discarded: it is opened into bilirubin — a yellow pigment — and passed out as bile, while the iron is reclaimed and sent back to the marrow to make new blood.
The old blood turns yellow on its way out and its iron becomes tomorrow's blood. Lemons for lemonade, written into the metabolism. WINK
Water, wine, blood: the gospel's three liquids in order. Jordan (water), Cana (wine), Calvary (blood, and water with it — John 19:34). The first sign and the last wound bracket the same body.

Cana at Sukkot
SCAFFOLD. Not dated by the text; the feast fits the elements (wine harvest, water-drawing, "tabernacled"). The Server previously held Av 15.

Both CONVICTION. 40+5 (1981–2021–2026) and 5+40 (1981–1986–2026); only the first has the Cana order. Challenger survival claims are not carried.
